Turning $1,000 into Nearly $1 Million: Nvidia's Incredible 20-Year Growth

It's rare for individual stocks to generate life-changing wealth, but the Bespoke Investment Group highlighted several that could make you wish you had invested earlier.
According to a note from Bespoke, a $1,000 investment in Nvidia stock 20 years ago would now be worth around $944,000. While it may not be enough to retire immediately, it certainly provides a substantial boost. A $10,000 investment would have grown to $9.44 million, and $100,000 would be worth $94.4 million.
However, holding onto Nvidia through significant market downturns, such as the Great Financial Crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Federal Reserve's aggressive rate hikes, would have required immense faith.
Bespoke also highlighted that Nvidia has been the best performer on a total-return basis over the past two decades among all S&P 1500 stocks, which includes the S&P 500, MidCap 400, and SmallCap 600. The AI boom helped transform Nvidia from a graphics processor company primarily known for gaming to a key player in generative AI technology. As a result, Nvidia replaced Intel on the Dow Jones Industrial Average last month. CEO Jensen Huang's net worth now stands at $118 billion, making him number 11 on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
Netflix, another company that has undergone a dramatic transformation, also delivered impressive returns. A $1,000 investment in Netflix stock 20 years ago would be worth over $550,000 today, with the company evolving from DVD rentals to a streaming and content powerhouse that disrupted Hollywood.
Along with Nvidia and Netflix, Bespoke identified other stocks that turned $1,000 into more than $100,000 in the past two decades, including Texas Pacific Land, Apple, Booking Holdings, Monster Beverage, Intuitive Surgical, and Amazon.
NFL legend Rob Gronkowski also demonstrated the potential of smart investing, sharing that his $69,000 investment in Apple stock 10 years ago, following advice from his contractor, is now worth $600,000.
