The IG Metall union stated in a pamphlet on Friday that strikes at Volkswagen (ETR:VOWG_p) from early December are "possible and necessary," as tensions rise between labor and management over the future of the company's German operations.

An agreement to avoid strikes expired on November 30, meaning that "strikes are possible and necessary from the beginning of December," according to the union.

"The duration and intensity of the conflict will be determined at the negotiating table by Volkswagen," the union added, emphasizing that workers across the country are prepared to strike.

If an agreement is not reached in the upcoming wage negotiations, the strikes could escalate to 24-hour or indefinite walkouts, potentially affecting Volkswagen’s production at a time when the company is already grappling with declining deliveries and significant profit losses.
