Leading chipmaker Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and SoftBank (TYO: 9984) Corp, the telecommunications division of SoftBank Group, announced on Wednesday that they have launched the world's first artificial intelligence and 5G telecoms network pilot. This innovative network is capable of simultaneously running AI and 5G workloads, a system referred to as an artificial intelligence radio access network (AI-RAN).

The companies highlighted potential applications for the network, including remote support for autonomous vehicles and control of robotics.

Nvidia's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, also revealed that SoftBank was the first recipient of its new Blackwell chip designs. These chips are being integrated into an AI supercomputer that SoftBank is building to develop its proprietary generative AI model.
