German exports in June declined more sharply than anticipated, primarily due to reduced demand from the United States, according to data released by the federal statistics office on Wednesday.
Exports fell by 3.4% compared to the previous month, significantly more than the 1.5% decline predicted by analysts in a Reuters poll.
The foreign trade balance registered a surplus of 20.4 billion euros ($22.3 billion) in June, down from 24.9 billion euros in May, falling short of analysts' expectations of 23.5 billion euros.
