Japan's stock market closed higher on Tuesday, with gains in the Real Estate, Transportation Equipment, and Fishery sectors driving the overall market upwards.
The Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.22% at the close in Tokyo.
The top performers on the Nikkei 225 included Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976), which surged 9.36% or 431.00 points to close at 5,037.00. Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7012) climbed 6.17% or 353.00 points to 6,076.00, and Murata Manufacturing Co. (TYO:6981) rose 5.54% or 198.00 points to 3,775.00 in late trading.
Conversely, the session's worst performers were Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523), which dropped 5.86% or 408.00 points to close at 6,550.00. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) fell 3.56% or 167.00 points to 4,522.00, and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) decreased 3.50% or 220.00 points to 6,064.00.
On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 2060 to 1589, with 238 ending unchanged.
Shares of Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) and Murata Manufacturing Co. (TYO:6981) both hit 52-week highs, rising 9.36% to 5,037.00 and 5.54% to 3,775.00, respectively.
The Nikkei Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, increased by 1.38% to 18.37, reaching a new one-month high.
In commodity markets, crude oil for September delivery fell 0.77% or 0.62 to $80.22 a barrel. Brent oil for September delivery declined 0.72% or 0.61 to $84.24 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 6.30 to $2,435.20 a troy ounce.
In currency trading, USD/JPY rose 0.37% to 158.60, and EUR/JPY increased 0.25% to 172.62. The US Dollar Index Futures gained 0.20% to 104.09.
