ECB policymaker Olli Rehn stated that the possibility of an interest rate cut in June hinges on the absence of additional challenges in the geopolitical landscape, particularly regarding energy prices and subsequent inflation. The ECB's recent indication of a potential rate cut in June is contingent upon inflation trends unfolding as projected.

Rehn stressed the importance of avoiding further complications in geopolitical affairs, such as those in the Middle East and Russia, which could impact energy costs and consequently inflation. While some of Rehn's colleagues have suggested the potential for additional rate cuts beyond June, Rehn refrained from expressing a similar view.

He emphasized the ECB's approach of assessing interest rate decisions on a meeting-by-meeting basis, considering the latest data and developments without committing to specific actions beforehand.
