Intel Corp. announced on Tuesday that it will spin off its venture capital and investment division, Intel Capital, into an independent company to improve operational efficiency. Intel will remain a key investor in the new entity, which is expected to operate under a new name starting in the second half of 2025. The current Intel Capital team will transition to the new firm.
David Zinsner, Intel’s interim co-CEO and CFO, described the move as a "win-win," allowing the new company to access additional capital while enabling both entities to continue benefiting from a strategic long-term partnership.
Founded in 1991, Intel Capital manages over $5 billion in assets and invests in companies across four sectors: silicon, frontier, devices, and cloud.
In a related development, identity security startup Orchid Security announced it raised $36 million in an early-stage funding round led by Intel Capital and Team8.
